Rinse when trays come out

Saliva and debris dry onto aligners quickly. A simple rinse after removal reduces buildup before it hardens.

Avoid very hot water

Heat can distort thermoplastic material and compromise fit. Use cool or lukewarm water unless the manufacturer or provider gives different instructions.

Cleaning the trays is not enough

Plaque on the teeth can be trapped under clean aligners. Oral hygiene and tray hygiene have to work together.

Cloudiness and odour are useful feedback

If trays become visibly cloudy or smell despite routine cleaning, review the cleaning method and whether food or beverages are being trapped under them.
