Preparing for an Invisalign Consultation

What to bring, what to ask and how to compare consultation recommendations.

Arrive with your priorities

Explain whether the main concern is crowding, a bite issue, relapse, appearance, a specific event deadline or something else. Clear priorities help the clinician discuss trade-offs.

Ask to see the diagnosis, not just the sales presentation

A useful consultation should connect records and examination findings to the proposed plan. Ask what would happen if no treatment were done and what alternative appliances could achieve.

Clarify who is treating you

If the consultation occurs in a general dental office, ask whether the treating dentist provides all phases of aligner care and when referral to an orthodontist would be considered.

Leave with a written scope

The fee, estimated length, included refinements, retention and payment terms should be clear enough that you can compare another consultation without relying on memory.
